By : Yaser MohammedElbow Injection
Elbow injection is a procedure or a technique that is used to treat cases with significant pain or inflammation in the elbow joint. after elbow injection, Physiotherapy is necessary to ensure the return of full and painless function within the elbow joint.
Elbow injection involves injecting part of the elbow joint with a combination of a corticosteroid (anti-inflammatory) and analgesic (pain killer) . An elbow injection provides high relief in the symptoms such as pain, inflammation, stiffness, and reduced range of movement within the elbow joint. Elbow injection is recommended when conventional treatments have failed to fully eliminate the symptoms.
Elbow injection is effective in conditions such as:
o Arthritis of the elbow joint
o Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
o Medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow)
o Olecranon bursitis

Two types of nerve compression in the elbow include:
Cubital Tunnel: Compression of the ulnar nerve at the inside part of the elbow. This nerve is very superficial (also known as the “funny bone”) and can be compressed when the elbow is held in a bent position for too long. Symptoms include pain, tingling, numbness in the ring and little finger, and decreased grip strength.

Cubital Tunnel
Radial Tunnel: Compression of the radial nerve at the elbow resulting in a set of symptoms that include fatigue or dull, aching pain at the top of the forearm with use. Although less common, symptoms can also occur at the back of the hand or wrist.
