Plantar aponeurosis clinical relevance

Overstretching of this fascia (plantar aponeurosis) lead for what?
May lead to Plantar Fasciitis
May lead to Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis
It is one of most common causes of heel pain . It is an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that crosses the bottom of each foot and makes a connection between the heel bone and toes (plantar fascia).
The cause of plantar fasciitis is unknown
It is commonly happen in runners and in people who are overweight

Symptoms
Typically it causes pain like a stabbing pain in the bottom of the foot proximal to the heel. The pain is often the worst with the first steps after awakening, although it can also happen by long periods of standing .
Therapies :it can be done by many ways like
1.Physical therapy
2.Night splints
3.Surgery.
What is Plantar Fascia Rupture?
A common cause of heel pain known as plantar fasciitis it happens when the fascia becomes inflamed. It can also traumatically tear . This could be a result of falling from a height or during activities like running or jumping.
Treatment
1.Begins with a period of immobilization then crutches.
2.Then start with Physical therapy.
Recovery can take 9-12 weeks.
Surgery is typically not required, because the fascia tends to heal on its own.

Plantar fascial fibromatosis or called (Dupuytren’s of the foot):
also known as
• Ledderhose's disease,
• Morbus Ledderhose,
• plantar fibromatosis,
It is an uncommon cause ,it is a non-malignant thickening of the feet's deep fascia. It starts as a small lump, called a plantar fibroma .It could be found in the arch of foot and may not affect in the life of the people with this case sometimes. The nodules start growing in the fascia of the foot . With the time, the walking becomes painful.

The plantar fascia (Ledderhose's disease )
Diagnosis
The physical examination of the arch and plantar fascia, and ultrasound imaging by a physician is the most common way to diagnosis.
Treatment
It could be treated by many ways, but the most common way is the radiotherapy, because it has the minimal effects and could reduce the pain and size of nodules

calcaneal spur
( also known as heel spur)
It happens when a bony outgrowth forms the heel bone. Calcaneal spurs are located
• At the back of the heel, and here it is called dorsal heel spur. usually associated with achilles Tendinopathy.
• Under the sole, and here it is called plantar heel spur. And it is associated with Plantar fasciitis.
There are 2 types of calcaneal spurs ;
1. Spurs are superior to the plantar fascia insertion
2. Spurs extend forward from the plantar fascia insertion distally within the plantar fascia.
Spurs can be classified into 3 types :
1. The 1st type is large in size
2. The 2nd type is large, but painful with weight-bearing
3. The 3rd type has only a tiny amount of proliferation and its outline is irregular and jagged
Diagnosis
Diagnostic imaging are usually used to differentiate some of the conditions that are mentioned below from calcaneal spurs.
Physical Therapy Management
Calcaneal spurs, are treated by conventional physiotherapy.

Note
First, what the Achilles tendon? It is the biggest and strongest tendon in body. It connects the muscles of the leg to heel.• Under the sole, and here it is called plantar heel spur. And it is associated with Plantar fasciitis.

Achilles Tendinopathy
Achilles Tendinopathy is a condition that causes
1. Pain
2. Swelling
3. Stiffness of Achilles tendon.
It could be occurred because of many reasons as the overuse of tendon like runners, athletes.
Treatment :
It could be treated by many ways:
1. Rest
2. Ice packs
3. Painkillers
